Our Location and Surrounding Area
We are situated in a quiet lane, a few minutes walk to the High Street with its bustling Saturday Market. The other end of the lane will take you to the Milford on Sea to Lymington part of The Solent Way, a coastal foot path that stretches for 60 miles to Emsworth harbour. From this path and across the Solent you can see from one end of the Isle of Wight, with views to The Spinnaker Tower at Portsmouth, to the other end and The Needles, the Lighthouse, Hurst Castle and Hurst Spit. Also from the path you will see the remains of the old salt mining industry for which Lymington was famous from the Middle Ages until the 19th Century - now a haven for migrating birds which over-winter here.
Lymington is well known for sailing. We have two Marinas and the Town Quay, the Yacht Club and the Sailing Club and the open air sea water baths " swimming pool"open from May-September. We are an ideal base for exploring local towns and villages, sandy and shingle beaches, for walking or riding in the New Forest or for taking a boat trip to the Isle of Wight.
Towns to visit within a 30 minute drive:Lyndhurst The heart of the New Forest with the New Forest Museum. New Milton Sammy Miller's Motorbike Museum. Ringwood An historic market town with its Wednesday market. Christchurch With its Priory built in 1094 and river walks. Highcliffe Castle, sandy beaches and walks to Mudeford Quay. Fordingbridge Formerly a favourite haunt of smugglers, now with a riverside park and an historic bridge with 7 graceful arches.
